Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)

Most modern cars are fitted with a diesel particulate filter (DPF). Although designed to reduce pollution the DPF must go through periodic 'regeneration' in order to function correctly.

The regeneration process varies from vehicle to vehicle but generally includes motorway driving and long journeys. Most cars that suffer with DPF issuses are used for town driving and short journeys, this type of driving will not warrant a regeneration which will then cause premature blocking of the DPF.

Not only are diesel particulate filters extremely expensive, once replaced, if the driving conditions remain the same then it will only be a matter of time before the DPF will need replacing again.

We offer two DPF solutions. Depending on the saturation level of the particulate filter we may be able to carry out a 'forced' regeneration using specialist diagnostic equipment which will return the DPF to factory settings. Failing this, we offer a DPF cleaning service.  The DPF will be removed from your car and sent to a local engineering company for cleaning.  Before and after reading are provided.  After the cleaning process the DPF will be reinstalled and fault codes will be cleared.  This solution will in most cases return the vehicle to normal drivability.
